During the three days of the VivaTech Salon, Paris was the tech capital of the World. A lot of innovations were presented and mobility was particularly in the spotlight, making it the perfect occasion for the Île-de-France Region to announce the launch of the Smartphone version of their NavigoPass, thanks to Wizway Solutions’ technology.
We are extremely proud to be partners with Île-de-France Mobilités on their SmartNavigo programme. The Transport Authority for the Île-de-France Region chose Wizway for our secure and flexible way of digitising transport tickets on a Smartphone, which will allow them to modernise their ticket offering and phase out magnetic tickets and contactless cards.
The upcoming service was presented during a press conference at VivaTech on May 25th, followed by a demonstration in the presence of Valérie Pécresse, President of the Île-de-France Region and Île-de-France Mobility, Alain Krakovitch, Director de SNCF Transilien and Hiba Farès, Director in charge of Customer Experience, Services and Marketing at RATP.
“It’s a modern, more practical service that fits in with the needs of all types of traveller, whether they are regular or occasional” explained Valérie Pécresse.
“Our passengers are really looking forward to this service. They’ll be able to buy books of tickets, monthly or weekly passes wherever and whenever they like, and they will be able to validate their ticket in the same smooth and simple way as with the Navajo Pass” added Hiba Farès.
Alain Krakovitch emphasised how the service was extremely secure as the tickets are stored on a physical element in the telephone and announced: “A trial will be available on all NFC Android Smartphones of our partner mobile operators. We are also hoping to be able to offer the service to Apple customers, like in Japan!”
“Our aim is to make the technology available to the widest possible audience and to ensure an effective and simple service for passengers. We are working closely with the mobile ecosystem to cover the largest possible number of NFC Smartphones we are already working on important developments to our solution.” explained Louis Brosse, CEO of Wizway Solutions.
From this autumn the service will be launched in partnership with SNCF Transilien, RATP and Optile. It will allow a sample group of inhabitants of the Île-de-France Region to buy a book of T+ tickets and monthly or weekly Navigo passes.
Eventually, 3 million travellers in the Île-de-France will no longer need to use ticket machines to buy their Navigo Passes or single tickets.
The service in action: dès cet automne votre portable se transforme en passe Navigo ou en ticket de métro
