Wizway Solutions, digital mobile partner for the Strasbourg Transport Authority

22 June 2017

In 2013, The Strasbourg Transport Authority (CTS) launched U’GO, their mobile application for buying and validating tickets via NFC on Strasbourg’s bus and tram network. Today they are continuing their innovative approach by becoming the first transport operator to integrate Wizway Solutions.

Through this partnership, CTS will benefit from a technical platform on a national scale and are taking a first step towards interoperability. U’GO users will now be able to buy tickets on different transport networks and validate their journey from the same mobile phone. U’GO will be open to new customers with the long-term objective of making the application available to everyone, whatever their telephone or mobile operator.

The service is being piloted in Strasbourg in July 2017 and will be publicly launched in September.

CTS’s U’GO mobile application has enabled customers of Strasbourg’s transport network to buy their tickets wherever and whenever they want (single tickets, season tickets, travel passes, …). Customers then validate their ticket on the NFC terminal with their Smartphone when they travel.

To make this service available to as many customers as possible, both regular and occasional, CTS have decided to use Wizway’s solution.

Wizway has developed a new service that allows all transport operators to provide their contactless tickets simply and quickly on a mobile phone.

This solution, which uses NFC technology, has the advantage of being compatible with different existing validation systems and of being easily integrated into transport operators’ mobile applications. It can therefore be implemented quickly and without any major investment. It allows tickets from several transport operators to be stored simply and safely on a mobile phone for a whole journey.

All the technological developments and changes (changing operator, loss…) relating to the mobile phone are looked after by Wizway, allowing the transport operator to always offer the best service to their customers. From its launch, the Wizway solution will be available to all the customers of the principal telephone operators (Orange, SFR & Bouygues Telecom) who have an NFC compatible Android Smartphone.

“CTS have always been at the leading edge of innovation in servicing their customers. We are very proud to be de accompanying them in this new step in their development. The inhabitants of Strasbourg and visitors to this European Capital will be the first to benefit from this new, simple, useful and secure service which will be developed throughout France and which allows people to travel from place to place simply using their Smartphone.”

Louis Brosse, CEO, Wizway Solutions

“CTS are proud to be the first transport network in France to be equipped with Wizway’s solution. At the forefront of digital mobility thanks to the conception and implementation of the U’GO mobile application in 2013, CTS has always wanted to make this mobile service available to as many of its customers as possible, whatever the make of their Smartphone or their mobile operator. This ambition is being realized today with Wizway, which is set to become the standard for mobile ticketing.”
